SHOWSCIENCE 2024

SHOWSCIENCE 2024

ShowScience 2024 in Rabat, Morocco

We are proud to announce the ShowScience 24 conference which will be held in Rabat, Morocco from 10th to 14th of september 2024.

The annual conference of the EuroScienceFun network, ShowScience, aims to bring together groups involved in science outreach all around Europe.

This 5-day conference offers participants the opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices to improve their activities.

The conference will consist of plenary sessions, workshops, discussion, and training sessions. It will close with a common show on 14th of september. We strongly encourage you to participate to this common show!

For the first time, the conference will be held in Africa rather than Europe. So ShowScience 24 is open to people active in science outreach in Africa, and who knows, an “AfricaScienceFun network” will be born.

It’s a great opportunity for ESF network members to discover the science mediation activities taking place in Africa.

Tourist information

Rabat is a cultural city steeped in history. Numerous masterpieces decorate its streets and squares. Visit the Kasbah des Oudayas: a majestic and formidable silhouette softened by the surrounding gardens. Not far from the city walls stand the walls of the Chellah, a necropolis dating back to the Merinids. Crossing the walls is like stepping into another world: you’re walking among ancient remains, gardens and storks.

Rabat is also a modern, eco-responsible capital that puts the emphasis on green spaces. It is dotted with parks, such as the botanical test garden and the Bouknadel exotic gardens a few kilometres from the city. Rabat’s coastline is also well cared for, with kilometres of beaches on the Atlantic coast stretching as far as neighbouring Casablanca.

Rabat is also modern in terms of its infrastructure and festivals, which contribute to the comfort and liveliness of the capital. With its airport, tram, shopping centres, cafés and restaurants, the city has everything you need. Finally, there’s the music that Rabat celebrates like no other: Mawazine, Jazz au Chellah and many others fill the atmosphere with sounds and rhythms from all over the world!

Invited speakers

Joana Mailler
After a Master’s degree in History (UNIGE), Joana turned to cultural mediation. She worked for various museums before joining the Mathscope and Physiscope teams at UNIGE. For 6 years, she put her mediation skills to good use while learning about new disciplines. At the same time, she founded with two friends an outreach association focusing on fantasy and science fiction literature. Today, she gives training courses in cultural and scientific mediation and works as a music mediator at Geneva’s Public Library.
